After breakfast and a nap we went to the temple that is near the hotel. James and I are a bit creeped out by the temple and all the beggars, it is all just so sad. However, Ryan got to see the elephant he has been longing for (Sambo was his name) and feed the (nasty and mean) monkeys. After that we headed back to the hotel for a 3 hour swim in the rooftop pool. Most of the team is sick or suffering from jetlag so today was supposed to break us in gently. The only thing we are suffering from is a major case of culture shock. Today we are going to the orphanage to see the feeding program and go to church, the days are about to get pretty interesting...

So Much To Say!!
I am so happy to get to share what we are seeing and doing with all of you! I can just hardly contain myself! First off, paise God we all got here safely and with ALL of our luggage. The He spent most of the time in the bathrooms and asleep, bad time to have the flu. Our hotel is beautiful and very homey. The boys slept fine and woke up early. The coffee press survived the trip so we had great coffee this morning.
We went out for breakfast this morning and I felt like we were in a movie. It is just unbelievable the difference from being home. Almost everything is in English and most people know just enough English to get by. The city is just wild. Lots of people and chaos but no one seems to mind a bit. Traffic is a free for all, literally, no rules what so ever. That will take some getting used to! Abigail and I had a ball grocery shopping, the market is similiar to our grocery stores but add in some completely random stuff. Vendors out side sell snails and cooked bugs (yummy) and just about everything else you can think of. James keeps pointing out different cars and pickups, some are really old, others to new to look right around here. I did nothing but gawk the whole time we were in the tuktuk, I couldnt even get pictures! The people are really into Ryans white skin and freckles. They love freckles! They talk to him and touch is face. At first he was a bit shy but now he is all about the attention. The weather is a balmy 80 degrees or so and feels so nice.

Bon Voyage Friends!
Well, here we go! We are off early tomorrow (Tuesday) for California. We will stay a day and visit family and be at the airport on Thursday morning. Today was crazy at best. So much packing and running around. It was a bit overwhelming. We are all excited, however James has been sick, and Ryan had an apparent migraine that ended in a throw up episode in the pickup. Still, the troops have rallied and we are ready and willing to get this show on the road. Remind me not to eat any chicken....

Such Support...
I am a bit overwhelmed by the number of friends that have contacted me about the blog. I just cant get over how great it feels to be supported by so many people here. I appreciate the time all of you are taking out of your day to check in on us and offer your encouragement and prayers. Most of you are more experienced travelers than we are and we are appreciating your tips as well. Thank you so much for your friendship and support as we leave for a short time. I am a bit taken with the whole Cambodia thing and I appreciate all of you putting up with this single train of thought I have right now. We are blessed to be a part of something God is doing and we will be thinking of each of you while we're there. Again, I just want to say thank you for caring, praying, and loving us along the way.
I had to get a picture to go along with this. I thought you may like this one, it is my very favorite. This girl is holding her sister. The little girl is very attached to her sister, Bopar, and Bopar at 10 years old has become the mother. This story gets me a bit misty...

We Think Kenden Is Going To Like This Guy...
This is David. He is just to cute! He always has this great "smile" when he gets his picture taken. It reminds me of how Kenden says "cheese" and sticks his jaw out in every picture. Cant wait to take pictures of all the boys together! We are leaving Christmas Valley Tuesday morning, one week from today. I am feeling the pressure no doubt! Start the countdown.....

What Ryan Wont Stop Talking About...
Ryan saw these pictures that Tyler and Jessica took of a temple that is only a few minutes walk from the hotel we will be staying at. Ryan was really not into the temple, but he is ALL ABOUT the monkeys! I now hear as much about the monkeys as I do about the ferry and the children. He can hardly wait to ride the elephant and feed the blasted monkeys. Well, whatever keeps him excited about it I guess...

This Boy Will Get My First Hug...
I cannot read this without tearing up. I cant wait to look into the eyes of this tangible miracle.
Here is his story as told by the orphanage:
Samson has been with us since 2004 when he was dumped on our doorstep. At that time he was about the size of a normal two year old child. It was only from his cognitive actions that it seemed apparent he was probably about 4 years old. Samson was extremely malnourished; he had a large swollen tummy and tiny stick-like limbs. His head constantly hung down from his lack of strength. His skin was covered in sores and when he lifted his head you could see right inside him through a gaping hole in his neck where his skin had rotted from infection.
Samson’s entire family had died of AIDs, this small child was the only survivor and he had been on his own for some months. Pastor John asked people in the village what his name was but nobody knew him. The little boy had such a strong determination on his face, he never spoke a word, never smiled, never laughed, never cried. The only emotion you ever saw from him was a stubborn resolve and strength to survive. So he was named Samson, the strong man.
Just cleaning his little body up and getting it somewhere near looking clean took about six months. During this time we prayed for him, loved him and fed him. In the beginning Samson would only eat a small amount of rice and he refused to eat any vegetables or meat. So although he had been so deprived of food and nourishment, he had gone far past being hungry and now had to be forced to eat. Then we wormed him, he had tapeworm and every other worm you that you could think of growing inside him. Intestinal worms come out of children in these circumstances by the handful.
Along with his obvious physical condition, Samson was also diagnosed with AIDS. Although it seemed that the world was against him living, he survived. Growing stronger every day as he is eating everything that is put in front of him, Samson is also learning too.
As soon as Samson could talk and learn to smile and laugh he learned about faith. He said from very early days that “Jesus has healed me”. He even offered to pray for the doctors who were treating him. Around Christmas 2005 we got confirmation that Samson’s blood was normal – no HIV. This is a real miracle!
Samson is a mighty man of faith and has a very powerful future. He’s got a character that will never give up and he will be successful in whatever he does.

Still Trying To Figure This Out...
Ok, I had a revelation last night (when I was supposed to be sleeping but wasnt) that I could get all my photos on one post. Yes, sure enough this makes much more sense! The only bummer is how slow my computer is, uploading takes a bit of time to accomplish. Soon I will get some of James Japan pics on here...
