Today was our third day doing VBS. We are all worn out from a very hot and busy week. We have been giving them "American" snacks to try. The first day was oreos and apple juice, day 2 was crackers and cheese and today was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It is really cute to watch them try things. Even though some of them say they dont like it, there is never anything left over, they eat every crumb.
Already we have had an accident on the new playground equipment. A little girl fell off the monkey bars and severely broke her arm. She had to have surgery on it today. One of the big boys went over and donated blood for the procedure. The hospital system is very corupt so there is definatly need to pray for this little one. Her name is Tamara.
The big swing Stan designed was finished today. They will have to paint it but the lack of paint didn't slow down the kids! It was a huge hit. They have a couple sets of bunkbeds finished. They look great too. I was talking to some of the boys about sleeping on them. They say beds are to noisey. They joked about just taking their new mattresses and putting them on the floor to sleep. They do want the beds, but they have never slept on beds and they are just not to sure about the whole thing yet. Should be fun to hear what they say next week!
James went home a bit early today, everyone is just worn out. He was kind enough to get us KFC for dinner. We were quite thrilled that it tasted the same as the chicken at home. You can imagine all the ohhs and awws, it has been awhile since we have eaten "normal" food. It was so nice.
Is that not the freakiest looking chicken you have ever seen??
Nice job on all the playground equipment! I'm still in awe of what you all are doing over there, it's great! I'm glad you found another chicken friend! Maybe you can take him for a ride in one of those cart things since you left your baler here. Can't wait for more pics! Courtnie
